Consultant Urological Surgeon
Dr Elsie Mensah is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a special interest in benign prostate enlargement (BPH), bladder cancer, and prostate cancer diagnostics. She offers a full range of minimally invasive and advanced treatments, including REZUM®, HOLEP, prostate aquablation, transperineal prostate biopsy, TURBT, and blue light cystoscopy.

Conditions Explained
Benign Prostate Enlargement (BPH)
BPH is a common condition where the prostate grows larger with age, causing symptoms such as weak urine flow, frequent trips to the toilet, or difficulty emptying the bladder. Dr Mensah offers minimally invasive treatments, including REZUM®, HOLEP, and prostate aquablation, designed to relieve symptoms while minimising recovery time.
Prostate Cancer Diagnostics
Early and accurate diagnosis is essential. Dr Mensah performs transperineal prostate biopsies, a precise and safe method to sample the prostate. She guides patients through their results and options, ensuring they understand the next steps.
Bladder Cancer
Bladder cancer may present with blood in the urine or urinary changes. Dr Mensah provides diagnosis and treatment, including blue light cystoscopy and TURBT (transurethral resection of bladder tumour). Treatment plans are personalised, taking into account each patient’s condition, risk, and preferences.

Elsie Mensah has been a consultant urological surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust since August 2020.
She is part of the bladder and upper tract urothelial cancer team. She also performs a wide range of general urological procedures including local anaesthetic transperineal prostate biopsy, ureteroscopy and laser stone fragmentation, and bladder outflow surgery.
